Mark Hattoy started cutting lawns when he was in high school. He operated his small business solely out of a pick-up truck. At the time, the business was called Mark Hattoy Landscaping. Eventually, he got married to Denise Archambault. In the beginning of their marriage, Mark went to Armand Silva, who owned a small nursery on 315 Blackrock Road, in the hopes of buying a new tractor. Instead, Armand convinced Mark and Denise to buy his house and nursery, which had been out of business for years.
Once Mark and Denise got settled into their new house 1986, they got the business up and running that year. Mark continued to develop his landscaping company, while Denise helped him run the nursery. Denise's grandfather would work in the greenhouses, while her mother and grandmother would work in the store. Mark's father and uncle would help him with landscaping and his mother would help at the nursery. After a few years of getting started, Mark's brother Ray came on board as a full time employee managing the landscaping company with Mark and working in the nursery.
Hattoy's Nursery and Garden Center has grown from a small shrub nursery, to a one-stop garden center for all of your outdoor needs. They have continued to grow their operation over the years by word of mouth with the continued support of local customers. Though the Hattoy's family had started the business, they have since hired an extremely loyal and dedicated staff. A lot of the employees have been with the business since the beginning of it all.
Today, Hattoy's Landscaping is servicing some of the same customers that Mark Hattoy took care of with his pick up truck in the 80's. The Hattoy's enjoy working with people, giving honest advice, and growing plants. Their passion has turned their family business into something special that they continue to value and appreciate.
